As specialist dementia care architects we believe it is so important to engage regularly and fully with people living with a dementia.
Also to keep closely in touch with and arrange days out to learn from the 1st hand experience of service providers and carers.
We are leaders of our local Dementia Action Alliance.
We have created a dementia and mental health focused Corporate Responsibility Programme
We are founders of and are developing 'Dementia Astronauts'. A Herefordshire based direct action group and online resource centre for people living with a dementia and their carers.
We organised Herefordshire's first Dementia Symposium, and are in the process of planning another.
We meet and keep in touch with Young Dementia Herefordshire (Herefordshire's local activity group set up and run by people living with dementia and their carers). We also have had them around to visit our office and receive their thoughts and advice on our architecture for care and dementia.
We arranged a tour and discussion group at the Worcester Snoezelen for our team, clients and members of Young Dementia Herefordshire. They are highly experienced in nearly all forms of special needs, and run one of the UK's leading sensory environments. It was a great fun and highly educational day out!
We have been invited to be 2 time judges of the 'Patient Experience Network's National Awards' 'Environment of Care' category. Judging between some of the best hospital design innovations over two years.
We also were invited to be judges of an award for the best out door educational play environment.
